What it does
Steam Traps
A steam trap is an automatic device that discharges condensate and non-condensable gases from steam lines while preventing live steam from escaping. Condensate left in the line reduces heat transfer and causes water hammer and corrosion, so the steam trap directly determines the efficiency of a steam system. Float types provide continuous discharge under varying load and respond quickly to sudden load changes; thermodynamic types, with their simple construction, robustness and compact dimensions, are preferred particularly on main steam distribution lines and in tracing applications.
